Terms and conditions
Before you proceed you must accept the terms and conditions.
This site is owned and operated by Plan International, Inc. (“Plan International”). All images, films, stories, publications and other related resources in any medium (“Material”) furnished for use on this site, including related text, captions or information are owned by Plan International, one of its subsidiaries or a Plan International member (a National Organisation) or are provided to Plan International or one of its subsidiaries or members by a third party for the use specified in connection with the Material.
In order to download / upload a resource from / to this website you must comply with the following terms and conditions of use:
a. The resource must always be credited as specified in the resource details.
b. Resources should not be altered or manipulated, added to, or have any part deleted without prior written consent from the Media Bank team.
c. You are solely responsible for the use of any resources, and you agree not to use Materials in connection with sensitive topics without prior written agreement from the Media Bank team. All material is correct as per the date in the resources details. It is your responsibility to check your statement is correct at the time of usage.
d. Where the creators or data subjects have placed additional restrictions on use of their Material, this will be recorded in the resource details accompanying the resource(s). You must read the resource details thoroughly and ensure that any additional restrictions on use are adhered to.
e. No resource may be used in a manner that could cause risk to any of the data subjects depicted or damage to Plan International’s reputation. If so requested by a member of the Media Bank team or Safeguarding team, you agree to stop using the Material.
f. Plan International and its staff have a legal and moral obligation to protect and respect the identity and privacy of any individual(s) shown in resources. Resources must not be published with any information that could lead a third party to identify individual(s).
g. False names are sometimes used for individual(s) in the Media Bank; this should be stated, as appropriate.
h. You are only authorised to publish Materials for the next 3 months; you must not publish any Material after 3 months without confirming prior to each use that the Material remains available for use in the Media Bank. Unless used in a publication, in which case a copy of the publication may be saved, you must delete Materials downloaded from the Media Bank once such Material is removed from the Media Bank.
i. Plan International and its staff have legal and moral obligations to ensure that information published is accurate and up to date. If notified that information you hold is inaccurate or outdated, you must amend the information as required. Prior to using Material in a publication, you must check the Media Bank to make sure that the information you hold remains accurate and up-to-date.
j. If you are submitting Material to the Media Bank, you hereby confirm that
(i) consent was obtained from the data subject and such consent was informed, voluntary, specific and unambiguous;
(ii) you have entered any restrictions on use of the resources accompanying the Material;
(iii) if a third party was involved in gathering the Material, that individual obtained consent from the data subject and such consent was informed, voluntary, specific and unambiguous;
(iv) if a third party was involved in gathering the Material, Plan International (including subsidiaries) and National Organisations have a licence to use the Material for the purposes listed in the resources alongside the Material;
(v) the consent form is being stored by your office and will be made available promptly upon request by the Media Bank team.
k. The resource may only be used for the purpose of Plan International’s work. You may not store, duplicate or re-purpose the resources without prior written consent from the Media Bank team.
l. If you share any Materials with a third party outside of Plan International, you must put in place adequate safeguards for the data being transferred, including contractual protection, and also require that the third party abides by these Terms & Conditions.
m. If so requested by the Media Bank team, you will delete any Material(s) specified by the Media Bank team.
n. For all external media use:
i) No more than three photographs by the same photographer may be used in one piece without prior consent from the Media Bank team.
ii) Photographs must be credited correctly.
iii) There must be a direct mention to Plan International in the piece
iv) You must not charge for use of the image(s). m. If you make the resource available to other Plan International staff members, you shall advise them of these terms and conditions and require that such staff members abide by them.
