42 adolescent girls and young women from eight indigenous communities in GuairĂ¡ took part in a training session on menstrual hygiene management and self care held by Plan International in Paraguay. The participants were also given menstrual hygiene kits containing reusable sanitary pads, underwear and personal hygiene items.
Health care professionals explained how to use and maintain the reusable sanitary pads which were appreciated by the women who live in rural communities where it is not always possible to obtain disposable sanitary pads which are often too expensive for most people to afford.
