Caption
South Sudan is one of the hungriest places on earth. After decades of widespread conflict, destruction and displacement, the people of South Sudan now face a humanitarian emergency. Each day almost 7 million people struggle to find enough food and malnutrition has reached crisis levels according to the World Food Programme.
For girls, hunger can often lead to early marriage. Child bride Gayin, now 18, asked her husband if she could return to school. With Plan International's support, she returned to her studies. Our programmes reach girls and their families with food, cash, child protection, and support them back into education. The time to act is now.
