The world is in the midst of a devastating food crisis. Across the globe, in countries such as Zambia girls are skipping school to find work to feed themselves and their families. 14-year-old Samira works as well as studies to ensure her younger siblings have food to eat.
"It has been hard for me to survive without food,” Samira explains. ‘Sometimes I even miss school so that I can look after my younger sisters - and make sure they have enough food to eat. I feel very bad because I miss lessons. I feel like crying now, there’s nothing I can do.”
The Hungriest Places on Earth is a creative comms project showcasing individual girls’ voices from corners of the world directly affected by the hunger crisis. By taking stories from each country affected by hunger, we present a globalised view of the hunger crisis across all regions of the world, as well as showing how Plan International is responding.
