In the district of Alta Verapaz and the country’s ‘Dry Corridor’, Plan International is providing life-saving support to more than 6,000 rural households at risk of moderate and severe food insecurity. Our programmes include cash and voucher assistance, allowing families to buy what they need with flexibility, choice and dignity.
Gloria, 18, had her first child when she was 16. She lives with her parents in Alta Verapaz and the family also rely on traditional weaving for income. "I have bought food for my child, corn, apples, pineapple, melon, grapes, meat. With the money Plan gave me we now eat three times a day," she says.
